Dino

Hop the cacti. Duck the birds by staying put. A free one-tap game.

Play nowTap to hop · Hold to jump high

Dino is a one-button endless runner across the desert. Your little dinosaur runs on its own and keeps speeding up. Tap for a quick hop over small cacti, or hold for a big jump over the tall ones and the wide clusters. Birds swoop in at different heights: jump the low ones, clear the middle ones with a full jump, and simply keep running under the high ones, because jumping into them ends your run. Every 500 metres the sun sets or rises. There's a new desert every day, with friends' ghost dinos running beside you.

How to play Dino

  1. Your dino runs automatically. Distance in metres is your score.
  2. Tap anywhere for a short hop. Hold to jump higher and farther.
  3. Jump over cacti and low-flying birds.
  4. Birds flying at head height pass right over you, so don't jump when one is coming.

Tips to get a high score

How the desert speeds up

Your dino starts at about 11.5 metres per second and reaches about 20 after roughly 65 seconds. It never levels off after that: you gain about 5 metres per second every further minute, which is why every run ends eventually.

Obstacles bunch up as well. Early gaps give you about three-quarters of a second to 1.2 seconds of running; by the end of the ramp that's down to about half a second to a second. Past that, gaps keep shrinking to as little as a fifth of a second.

The first ten seconds or so are a warm-up with only small cacti. Birds come in after that, tall cacti get more common, and from about 25 seconds you'll see clusters of three and the cactus-then-high-bird trap.

Tap versus hold, in practice

A tap gives a short hop that lasts about a third of a second and clears small cacti and ground-level birds. Holding keeps the lift going for up to the first quarter-second of the jump. A full hold more than doubles the height and keeps you in the air for about 0.6 seconds. Anything in between gives a jump in between.

Birds come at three heights. About four in ten fly high enough to pass over a dino on the ground, three in ten skim the ground, and three in ten fly at mid height, too low to run under and too high for a hop to clear safely.

The longer you're in the air, the less time you have for whatever comes next. Late in a run, use the shortest jump that clears each obstacle so you're back on the ground and ready sooner.

Distance, coins and queued jumps

Your score is distance in metres, and nothing else adds to it. CLOSE! calls, coins and the day and night flip are just for fun.

About a third of obstacles have a coin floating high above them. A tap hop won't reach it; you need a hold. Only go for one when the next obstacle is far enough away, because a big jump keeps you up almost twice as long as a hop.

Jumps can be queued, but only just. A press up to about a tenth of a second before you land still counts, and if you're still holding as you touch down, the queued jump is a high one. Press any earlier and nothing happens, so time the second jump off the landing, not the take-off.

FAQ

Is there a duck button?

No, it's one button. Birds come at three heights: jump the low ones, use a full hold for the middle ones, and keep running under the high ones.

Why does it turn dark?

Every 500 metres the desert flips between day and night, just to keep the scenery changing. The rules stay the same.

Is it free?

Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.

How do challenges work?

After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
