Bow

Play nowHold to draw · Let go to shoot

Bow is a one-button archery game. Hold to draw the string back. The longer you hold, the faster the arrow and the higher the bow tilts, so the shot flies farther. Let go when the arc looks right to hit the target down the range. Hold past full draw and your arm starts to shake, so you can't wait forever. Hit the target face to score, and hit the gold in the middle for a bullseye streak. Miss, and you lose one of three arrows. Later targets sit farther away and get smaller, the wind starts pushing your arrows long or short, and the targets bob and slide while you aim.

How to play Bow

  1. Hold anywhere to draw. The dotted line shows where the arrow starts out heading.
  2. Let go to shoot. A longer draw sends the arrow higher and farther.
  3. Hit the target to score. Miss it, and you lose one of your three arrows.
  4. Shoot before the clock runs out. Taking too long costs an arrow too.

Tips to get a high score

What gets harder, and when

After the first two targets, every target moves to a new spot, and the spread grows over about 28 hits: targets can sit higher up the range and a little farther away. Over the same stretch the target face shrinks by a third, and the draw fills faster, from about 0.77 seconds to about 0.53.

Wind starts at your 3rd hit. Each target gets a random tailwind or headwind, and it gets stronger as you go. Targets start bobbing up and down at 7 hits and sliding back and forth at 14.

Past 28 hits the face keeps shrinking and the draw keeps quickening for about ten more hits, and the wind never stops building. That's what eventually ends even a very good run.

Bullseyes, rings and what scores

Every arrow that hits the face is one point, whether it lands in the gold or on the rim. The rings only decide your bullseye streak. Hit the gold, the middle quarter of the face, and the streak grows. Every third bullseye in a row drops a coin for hats.

So when the target is small and moving, aim for the middle of the face and be happy with any hit. Your three arrows are the run: each miss or clock violation costs one, and you never get them back.

The clock gives you about 5.5 seconds to start drawing, and it stops while you hold, so there's no need to rush once the draw has begun. A draw too short to count doesn't shoot, but it doesn't stop the clock either.

Reading the draw

Draw length sets both speed and angle. As the draw fills, the bow tilts from just below level up to about 49°, and the arrow gets faster at the same time. That's why a tiny change in release timing moves the arrow a lot on a far target.

At full draw your arm starts to shake, and the shake grows the longer you hold. After four seconds at full draw the arrow goes on its own. If a shot needs a full draw, let go right as the bow reaches full, before the wobble builds.

Wind changes the height where the arrow arrives. A tailwind gets it there sooner, so it strikes higher; a headwind slows it, so it drops lower before it reaches the target. Release a touch early in a tailwind and a touch late in a headwind, and watch where each arrow hits so you can adjust on the next one.

FAQ

How do I aim if I can only hold and release?

Draw length is your aim. Holding longer raises the bow and adds speed, so the arrow lands farther and higher. Releasing at the right moment is the whole skill.

How does the run end?

You have three arrows. Every miss or clock violation costs one, and the run ends when they're gone. Your score is the number of targets you hit.

Is it free?

Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.

How do challenges work?

After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
