Bowl is a one-button ten-pin bowling game. Your ball slides back and forth along the foul line: tap to roll it from where it is. While it rolls, hold to put spin on it and it curls toward the middle of the lane. Start on the right and it hooks left; start on the left and it hooks right. The pins bump into each other, so a ball in the pocket sends them all flying, and a ball that's slightly off leaves a few standing for a spare. Clear the rack in two balls and you keep going. Leave pins standing and you lose one of three lives. Later frames bring a faster ball, less spin and oily lanes that pull it sideways.
How to play Bowl
- Tap anywhere to roll the ball from its spot on the foul line.
- While the ball rolls, hold to spin it. It curls toward the middle of the lane until you let go or the spin runs out.
- Knock all ten pins down with the first ball for a strike, or with both balls for a spare.
- An open frame, where pins are still standing after two balls, costs one of your three lives.
Tips to get a high score
- Start a little right of the head pin and hook it back left. A ball that comes in at an angle scatters the pins best.
- Spin has a lasting effect: once the ball is curving it keeps curving, so let go early and let it drift into the pocket.
- On a spare, roll at the pins that are still standing from just outside them, with only a little spin.
- Watch the arrows on oily lanes. They show which way the lane will pull, so start on the other side.
- Strikes in a row climb in pitch, and every strike drops a coin for hats.
What changes frame by frame
Bowl ramps up over the first 11 frames. By then the ball slides along the foul line about twice as fast, and it rolls up the lane quicker, taking about 0.9 seconds to reach the pins instead of 1.2.
You also get less spin per roll: you can hold it for about 0.6 seconds instead of 0.77, though each moment of spin pushes a little harder. That leaves less room to fix a bad starting spot with a long hook.
Oil starts on frame 3. Each frame gets a random sideways pull, left or right, shown by the drifting chevrons, and it grows stronger through frame 11. After that it keeps getting stronger every frame, and that pull is what ends most long runs.
Pins, spares and lives
Your score is simply the number of pins you knock down. There are no bonus balls like in real bowling, so a strike and a spare are both worth 10. What they really protect is your lives: an open frame is the only thing that costs one, and you have three for the whole run.
That should shape your second ball. All that matters is clearing what's left, so roll straight at the leftover pins with little or no spin. The slider starts the second ball where your first one left from, not in the middle, so watch where it is before you tap.
Don't let the clock run out. If you wait about 5.5 seconds without rolling, it's a foul and the frame ends open on the spot, even on your first ball. That's a life gone with no pins for that roll.
Making the hook work for you
The way the ball can curl is set when you roll: from right of centre it hooks left, from left of centre it hooks right. Spin builds sideways speed that stays with the ball, so a short hold early in the roll bends it more than the same hold near the pins.
On an oily lane, think of the oil as extra hook you didn't ask for. If the chevrons drift left and you start right of centre, the oil and your spin both pull left, so use less spin than usual. Start on the same side the oil pulls toward and your spin works against it instead.
A ball that leaves the lane before it reaches the pins drops into the gutter and scores nothing. One that reaches the edge alongside the pin deck rolls on along the edge and can still clip pins. Pins also knock each other over, and a fallen pin sweeps a wider area, so a ball that drives in at an angle tends to take more of the rack with it.

FAQ
Why does the ball only curl one way?
Spin always curls the ball toward the middle of the lane. Roll from the right half and it hooks left, roll from the left half and it hooks right. Where you tap decides which way it can bend.
How does scoring work?
Your score is the total number of pins you knock down. The run lasts as long as you keep clearing racks: every open frame costs a life, and you have three.
Is it free?
Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.
How do challenges work?
After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
