Smash is a one-button stack-smashing game. Your blob sits on top of a tall tower of spinning rings. Hold anywhere and it slams down, shattering ring after ring. Let go and it just bounces in place. Bright segments break, but black ones don't: smash into black and the run is over. A spiked crusher sinks from the top of the screen, so you can't wait forever. Keep smashing to build heat, and when the heat ring fills you catch fire and burn through anything for a few seconds. Every ring is a point, and there's a new tower every day to race your friends' ghosts down.
How to play Smash
- Hold anywhere to smash down through the rings. Every ring you break is a point.
- Let go to bounce. Bouncing on a black segment is safe; smashing into one ends the run.
- Watch the spin: let go before a black segment turns under you, then hold again once it's past.
- Don't dawdle. The spiked crusher keeps sinking, and if it catches you the run is over.
Tips to get a high score
- Short holds are fine. Smash a ring or two, bounce, and smash again as the gap swings round.
- Long smashes fill the heat ring around your blob. Fill it for FEVER: a few seconds where even black breaks.
- The black wedges twist down the tower in a spiral. Follow the twist and you can see where the next gap will be.
- The stack changes spin direction every few seconds, so expect black segments to swing back.
- Gold segments drop a coin when you smash through them.
What speeds up, and when
Two things ramp with time over roughly the first 70 seconds. The spiked crusher ends up sinking three times faster than at the start, and the stack spins nearly twice as fast. After about 80 seconds both keep creeping up. The spin also reverses every eight seconds, easing into the new direction rather than snapping.
The rings get meaner with depth. At least the first eight have no black at all, and up to about ring 30 each ring has just one black segment out of eight. After that the black wedge slowly widens, to four or five segments far down the stack, and from ring 40 some rings carry a stray black segment off to the side.
Rings come in blocks of 6 to 12 that share one wedge, each twisted a little further than the ring above. That's the spiral you see. Between blocks the wedge can jump to a new angle, so give the first ring of each block a fresh look.
Heat and fever, exactly
Every ring you break is one point, during fever or not. Gold segments give a hat coin but no extra points.
Each smashed ring fills a sixteenth of the heat ring, so sixteen rings start fever. At full speed you break about 17 rings a second, so one clean second of holding is enough. Heat doesn't drop while you hold. When you let go it drains, and a full ring empties in a little over a second, so short bounces cost little while long pauses throw it away.
Fever lasts just under three seconds, about 50 rings, black or not. Heat doesn't build during fever, and when the glow fades, black counts again. If you're holding over a black segment at that moment, the run ends, so ease off as fever runs out.
Racing the crusher
The crusher starts about 210 pixels above you and is never allowed to fall more than 330 pixels behind, so smashing fast can't bank a big lead. Early on, sitting still gives you around seven seconds before it reaches you. Once it's at full speed and as far back as it can be, you have about three and a half.
So waiting out one black segment is fine, but waiting out two or three in a row isn't. If the spiral is about to bring more black round, smash a few rings now while the front is bright.
Letting go is safe instantly. Even a release a split second before you touch the next ring turns the smash into a bounce. You cross a ring every sixteenth of a second, though, so let go before the black reaches the front, not when you see it there.

FAQ
Why didn't I die when I landed on black?
Bouncing is always safe. Only smashing (holding) into a black segment ends the run.
What is fever?
Smash 16 rings without long pauses (heat drains while you're not holding) and the heat ring around your blob fills up. Then you catch fire for about three seconds and smash straight through black segments too.
Is it free?
Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.
How do challenges work?
After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
