Shape is a one-tap hole-in-the-wall game. You're a jelly shape with googly eyes, and brick walls come flying down the tunnel at you, each with a hole cut in it. Every tap turns your shape a quarter turn clockwise. Line it up with the hole before the wall arrives and you slip straight through. Get it wrong, or still be mid-turn when the wall hits, and you splat. Every few walls a gold morph ring turns you into a new shape, and the walls keep coming faster.
How to play Shape
- Watch the hole in the next wall as it comes towards you.
- Tap anywhere to turn your shape a quarter turn clockwise.
- Match the hole before the wall reaches you to pass through. Every wall is a point.
- Hit a wall facing the wrong way, or while still turning, and the run ends.
Tips to get a high score
- Count the turns as soon as the hole is readable: one, two or three taps, then stop.
- Three taps clockwise is the same as one turn the other way. There are no shortcuts, so tap quickly.
- Finish turning early. A turn that ends just before the wall counts as a CLOSE call, and one that ends too late is a crash.
- Some shapes look the same after half a turn, so they may need fewer taps than you think.
- Using the fewest possible taps for each wall builds a clean streak that climbs in pitch.
Speed, spacing and new shapes
The walls speed up over about the first 70 seconds, to a bit over twice their starting pace, then keep accelerating slowly. The space between walls shrinks too. Early on you get almost two seconds from one wall to the next; by 70 seconds it's about half a second.
A hole becomes readable once its wall is a set distance away. That gives you about two seconds of warning at the start and about one second once the walls are at full speed.
Shapes unlock in stages. You start as an L, and the first morph ring turns you into a T. From the second morph the S, J, I and Z join, and from around the third or fourth morph the five-block shapes (P, U, F, Y, W and V) are in the mix too.
Counting taps
Each wall you pass is a point; morph rings aren't. Your clean streak and the coins on some walls don't change your score. Coins go towards hats.
Each hole is turned zero to three quarter turns from the one before. Most need one or two taps, about one in five needs three, and roughly one in eight needs none at all. Those zero-tap walls catch players who tap out of habit, so check before you touch the screen.
A morph ring gives you your new shape at a random angle, and the next hole is measured from that angle, so start counting fresh.
A quarter turn takes a tenth of a second, and every tap starts a new one. Three fast taps finish a tenth of a second after the last. You crash if you're still turning when the wall arrives, and finishing within about a sixth of a second of impact counts as a CLOSE call.
A routine for fast walls
Once walls come less than a second apart, the next hole is often readable while you're still lining up for the current one. Finish this wall first and don't turn for the next one early, because your shape has to match the nearer hole when it hits. The moment you pass, count the next.
Know which shapes are symmetric. The I, S and Z look the same after half a turn, so a three-tap hole for them really needs just one tap. The L, J, T and every five-block shape need the exact angle.
If you miscount, don't keep tapping blindly. Each extra tap is another quarter turn, so one tap too many means three more to come back round. Stop, look at the hole and count again.
Daily levels and ghost races

FAQ
Which way does the shape turn?
Always a quarter turn clockwise, one turn per tap. To go one step anticlockwise, tap three times.
What are the gold rings?
Morph rings. Flying through one changes your shape into a new one, so read the next hole fresh.
Is it free?
Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.
How do challenges work?
After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
